It’s day 10 of 17. Well, 16 days really, because day 17 is a travel day and that doesn’t count. It’s hard to believe that we’re more than halfway through this trip because of how time seems to move; the days seem to feel like they last forever and yet they seem to simply fly by. For me, today started at an early 4:50am, when everyone sleeping topside got drenched with a 5 minute downpour of Caribbean rain. Santiago, Kat, Sami, Karl, Mike and I all rushed to take cover. By the time we reached shelter the rain had stopped and we were sort of soaked. After that the other 5 went back to sleep while I decided to stay up and watch the sun pain the passing clouds orange and pink. Totally worth it! The rest of the crew fully woke up around 7:30. The scheduled breakfast today was pancakes. It’s the meal in which the staff have a meeting in the middle of, meaning that they had to leave us all alone on the boat cooking. Thankfully, we didn’t burn the boat down, even though we did have a slight propane issue (we ended up needing to switch out the propane tank after a call to Jake during his meeting). So after all that drama, we finally sat down to a delicious meal and turboed through cleanup before setting out to Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island. Here we picked up a mooring ball and had a half rotation day. First, advanced divers descended to around 55ft to the Sand Highway, where we saw an 8 foot nurse shark, a stingray, a couple of sand fish and a lot of 4-eye butterfly fish and yellowtail snappers. After that we dinghied over to Squeakybrat for knot tying, waterskiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding. Now we’re all taking salt water showers before a dinner of chili and rice. Now Lisa’s looking over my shoulder telling me I need to cut this blog short. Meh. I’ll cut to the chase here and just say that over the past 10 days our crew has gotten so close that we consider each other a second family. I hope we can stay in contact after this trip and maybe even visit each other sometime!
