Day 7: Duck Season
Posted: Wed, Aug 6, 2014
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we woke up to Sam blasting “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” and dancing all around the boat. Then we all ate some wonderful oatmeal in the beautiful Vixen Point. Everyone was definitely tired from a long night of dancing and socializing at the beach party. Luckily, we had a nice long sail to Great Harbor Peter, giving everyone time to relax. Ella, Sam, and I sailed to Mary Mo today and it was much fun. Once arriving in GHP, we were all given time to complete our knowledge reviews and swim before eating lunch. The Neptunes then went for their first deep dive. Much humor arose during the dive, especially from Brandon. The Rescues went for their second search and recovery dive consisting of using the expanding square search pattern. Daniel and I successfully completed trying our knots together, thankfully. After all the shipmates finished their dives, everyone enjoyed swimming and kneeboarding. Being my first time kneeboarding I can say it is one of the most exhilarating activities we do. Then, we were all privileged enough to listen to Weston talk about duck season in Tennessee. Weston taught us a lot about one of his biggest passions and now we are all hoping for an invitation to go duck hunting with him. To continue our day, Sam brought back a huge hermit crab to our boat from snorkeling. Let’s just say the hermit crab likes goldfish! To make the day even better, we had Mexican Night for dinner. All in all, today consisted of many laughs and a ton of fun. And the fun only continues when trying to outrun the rain every single night when we try to sleep outside! I’ll finish this entry by saying: dribble, dribble, scoop, dunk!
