Day 10- Open Water Dive!!
Posted: Fri, Jul 18, 2014
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we had pancakes! Our chefs woke up early and prepared a delicious breakfast for the rest of the crew. After our big breakfast the rotation day began! Our boat first went to the MOB station, otherwise known as man overboard. We took the boat Celestial Storm out of the anchorage and then dropped our MOB (a fender and a bucket, not a real person!). We learned the procedure and how to helm the ship. To say it simply, you kind of make a figure eight. Navigation was a bit hard but I got the hang of it. Then our boat went back to our boat, Sambamba, for sailing the Picos. After lunch we (the Vegas) went to Elowyn Sage to take our open water final exam. It was a bit exhausting but we were well prepared for it. Then we headed out to some rocks near the anchorage where Changes was. The Vegas had their first open water dive! It was to 30 feet and it was so cool! We went down and there was a bunch of coral and some small fish. We practiced a few skills at the bottom. We removed our regulators and put them back in. We took our masks on and off. I’m so excited to do another dive! Write to you soon…
