Day 2: Our First Sail and Dive
Posted: Thu, Jul 10, 2014
Location: White Bay, Peter Island
Today was an amazing day. We woke up bright and early at 6:45 to the gorgeous British Virgin Islands. After breakfast, we went to the dock and listened to Mike tell us about life aboard. Around 11:00 we left West End and sailed to White Bay, Peter Island. During the sail, Meghann and Mike taught us some knots while water soaked us from passing waves. Everyone was so excited to be off the dock and underway! Upon our arrival, we all jumped in the water and took our swim tests. We set up all of our gear and jumped in the water. Our first open water dive was lots of fun. We returned to the boat, did some jumping into the water and showered. During shower time we saw a spotted eagle ray swim by. After a Sloppy Joe dinner we had the squeeze. The other dive side boats are coming over to Mahi for an intro chat now. Looking around everyone is smiling, laughing and dancing even while cleaning up. Although it has only been a day, we have really grown close and bonded as a family. Many of us have had moments of amazement looking around at the gorgeous scenery and all 14 students and 3 staff members are thrilled and excited for another day in paradise.
