The vessel we call Basher
Posted: Mon, Jul 15, 2013
We believe this video to be the first ever taken by ROV of the vessel known in the Swedish Fornsk database as RAA 2:23. We have nicknamed it Basher based on a translated ID that shows up in the database. The vessel has not been dated yet it is classified as being from around 1500AD. The wreck is about 40km east of Gotland and the ROV was showing 111 meters (365ft) of water depth as we flew over the ships’s rail from bow to stern. The wreck was first reported in 2009 and was likely spotted by a surveyor for the Nordstream pipeline.
