Location: Little Harbor, Jost van Dyke
Since the hike got canceled, we were allowed to sleep until 8:30. I woke up around 8 to Pat standing on the hardtop above my hammock, which was a little traumatizing. After everyone had woken up to the music, CiCi had put on. We had cereal for breakfast.
After we cleaned up from breakfast, we were given our phones before we went on shore in Cane Garden Bay. Cane Garden Bay mainly consists of a small dock area, a small grocery store, a couple of restaurants, and a few small shops. After a short dinghy ride on our dinghy, Oats (which is still alive and kicking although she refuses to start and randomly dies sometimes), Olivia, Pat, Finnley, Amelia, Alex, and I decided to go to the grocery store first. Once there, we mainly bought chips and Oreos along with an assorted group of other items. After we finished shopping, we went on a short walk down the road to one of the restaurants. The food there was exceptional, especially the blackened mahi-mahi fish tacos, which I got. While we were at the restaurant, Gus and a few other people went to a t-shirt shop where Gus said what he said was “the most amazing t-shirt I have ever seen” and “the best $26 I have ever spent”. He also got tons of compliments while walking down the beach in his new shirt and his American flag print pants.
Once we were all back on our floating home, the great ship Bend the Rules. We took a slow sail over to Sandy Spit island, and on the way, we ran the compressor to pump scuba tanks. A little while later, we had arrived, and we dropped anchor in the shallow blue water just off the island. Most of us (including myself) went to shore for a little bit of beach time. There we buried Pat up to his head and turned him into the most amazing mermaid you have ever seen on this side of the Mississippi. There should be some pictures of Pat the Incredible Mermaid attached with this post, so you don’t just have to take my word for just how amazing Pat the Incredible Mermaid is (or Pat in general). He also made some amazing facial expressions while he posed for pictures. After Pat was done being the amazing mermaid that he is, we floated around in the water around the island for a bit before hopping back on the boat.
Once we were back on the boat, we motored over to Sidney’s, where we got BBQ chicken and t-shirts. Sephena and RiRi both went ashore and worked very hard to get everything for us, so a special thanks to them! Overall it was a very relaxing and fun day!
