Location: Great Harbor, Jost van Dyke
We all slept well because we were rather burnt out from the great barbecue. Hotdogs and burgers were the food of the night, along with a salad that no one could agree was good or not. It was a nice meal at picnic tables along the beach with a DJ playing the most questionable music for a beach party imaginable (shout out to DJ Heavy BeatZ). He would play overall decent songs, but the remixes were not modern. Enough about the barbecue, because we actually had a good night’s sleep with zero rain which we are all grateful for. An assortment of bagels was waiting for us at the table, and I slathered mine in Nutella that Savannah, Alex, and I painstakingly scoured every grocery store in Spanish Town for. After breakfast, we actually sailed for the second time for a three-hour journey to the site of our deepest dive! On the way, we napped and were forced to study up on deep diving and wreck diving, so we were all nice and prepared when we went all the way down to seventy-eight feet. Player was my good ole’ dive buddy, and he really had my back, pointing out the coolest things I could ever imagine seeing on a deep dive. A purple sponge. We did get a little lost on our way back from our dive and surfaced a good distance from the boat. After we were all showered and dried, it was time to lay in the sun on the roof/nap time 2. I slept wonderfully but apparently slept through the creation of guacamole and a jelly omelet à la Xander. As I was writing this, a ton of Horse Eye Jackfish was gathering below the boat, which made Pat’s day. Daniel filmed while Pat, Amelia, Alex, and Sofia were chucking meat for the fish to fight over. Tonight for dinner is Mexican night, which Player and Xander are cooking masterfully. Even though it hasn’t happened yet, I know tonight will end with some beanbag time and marshmallows as per usual.
