Beautiful Antigua

Location: Antigua
Author: Andrew S.
Today we woke up at 0700. We made delicious blueberry pancakes and got permission from the dock-master to dock in town. We then had a couple of hours to walk around and enjoy the beautiful culture the island had to offer. We all enjoyed lunch on the island and headed back to the boat at 1:00pm. The weather was gorgeous all day long. Next, we visited Fort Berkeley and the beautiful view. After the fort, we went to a great beach and went snorkeling until around 5pm. We came back, had Hibiclens showers, and had yummy tortellini for dinner. We can not wait for DIVING tomorrow!!

Day Sail to Antigua

Location: Nevis, Antigua
Author: Marta H.
We woke up at 6:30 am to be ready for our sail to Antigua at 8:00am. It was a sunny day and we had an amazing sail while enjoying Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, and more amazing music and chatting. We got to Antigua around 4:00pm. We anchored in front of a gorgeous beach and saw really cool boats anchored next to us. After anchoring we cleaned the deck and then it was shower time! After that, we got Thai peanut chicken, so good! And now were are going to have a movie night! We are all really excited about that. We can’t wait to visit Antigua tomorrow!

Our Expedition to “The Source”

Location: Nevis
Author: Morgan M.
We woke up early and had eggs and muffins for breakfast. Then we packed up our dirty laundry and our backpacks for the hike we were about to go on. As soon as we got into shore, Barry, the taxi driver, drove us to the bottom of the volcano. The hike was absolutely amazing! It was by far one the best experiences I’ve ever had. The rainforest climate was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. As soon as we got down to the hotel at the bottom again, everyone just DOVE into the pool. In a couple of hours, we were out of the pool and back on the boat again. We hung out on deck until supper. We had a really great meal of pasta and garlic bread. And the rest of the night was pretty well spent sitting around the table downstairs, talking and arm wrestling. It was one of my favorite days so far!

A Busy Day on Nevis

Location: Nevis
Author: Mackenzie P.
After a surprisingly “pleasant” overnight passage, we moored off of Charlestown, Nevis. The morning started nice and late, which was quite refreshing after several sleepless nights, and jam packed days. We happily ate oatmeal for breakfast, cleaned the boat, several of us took a shower as Andy cleared us through customs. Later we ate a nice mac n’ cheese lunch, and departed to Nevis for a tour of the island. We made stops at the lush botanical gardens, an amazing hotel which was once a sugar plantation, and a church that was 400 years old. After the tour came to and end we were allowed shore time. We all bought mangos, and some of us went to the supermarket and/or the Chinese supermarket. It’s taco night, and we’re all quite excited.

From High Up to Deep Below

Location: Statia
Author: Ivy A.
Today we woke up bright and early at 5:30am to hike up “The Quill”. After the hike we had some down time and most of the us used to the computers at the national parks center. Then at 11:30 we met by “The Donkey” for lunch. After delicious PB and J sandwiches, we had some more free time. At 12:45 some people met at the dive shop, while at three the rest of the group met and took Hibiclens showers. The group of people who went scuba diving first did a practice dive off of the dock and then went to a real dive site called “Crooks Castle”. “Crooks Castle” is a coral covered lava flow at 40 feet deep. We saw tons of marine life from small fish to a unique type of lobster, it was incredible. The people who took Hibiclens showers claimed they felt “strangely clean” after. At around 6:30pm we left for Nevis. We had two shifts, the first one from 7-10 and then from 10 to 12:30 when we arrive in Nevis.
