Day 9

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Madeline Y.
We woke up to some new music today. We had breakfast burritos and then it started to rain. When the rain cleared there was a double rainbow. We cleared up and went for a dive. We had to identify fish, coral and plants. For lunch, we had Tuscan white bean soup. Then two hours of intense knot tying and the bowlines were hard to get for me. After that, we took a twenty-minute break to swim. We all dove right off the boat. Then we had a sails chat about docking and spring lines. It was actually really fun for something including learning. We figured out how to duck a boat with the wind coming from the dock. Next, we had dinghy training. We practiced getting someone who went overboard and tying the dinghy to the boat. When we did the first man overboard, I went to grab the fender and fell in. We came back and played a little cards, ate pop tarts, and sunbathed on the bow. I went for a little swim off the stern, and then we had dinner. Today it was chicken Caesar salad. Later we all will go on our first night dive. I am super excited!!

La Fiesta

We woke up to the start of a jam-packed day. Bright and early we woke, ate breakfast and went snorkeling/scuba diving. The snorkeling was breathtaking, seeing many fish, such as over 10 barracudas. Scuba divers dove around cannon indents while seeing many fish. After some exciting dives, Bella Vita went to sail Pico boats. With just 2 people per boat, everyone paired up and had quite an adventure. Many capsized. Later, everyone was hungry and ready for lunch. After a quick bite, it was time to sail on the Rhodes. Two hours of exciting sailing later, we all prepared for the short but sweet sail ahead. Once arriving on shore we refilled the water and had 45 minutes to call home and run to the grocery store. We then hopped back on the boat and had a fantastic sail to Mountain Point. Dancing, sailing and laughing pretty much sums up our ride. We had a little trouble anchoring, but we were able to watch the beautiful sunset. After 4 unsuccessful attempts, we finally got anchored. The long awaited Mexican dinner was beyond tasty, finishing nearly all of it. Finished off the day with a scuba chat
and a great night of sleep.

Rotation Day/BBQ

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Ian C.
Today we woke up after a long night and ate cereal and fruit. After that, we got onto the dinghy which took us to the divemaster boat where we grabbed dive gear and went diving near the Rhone cannon. Once we finished diving, we went windsurfing and played on the beach where our boats are rafted. Next, we had lunch, which was mac and cheese. It was tasty. Once we were done with lunch we went kneeboarding and wakeboarding, which was a blast! When we finished, we showered and got ready for this beach party where we will eat, socialize and dance. Finally, after a long day we will go to bed.

Fun in the Sun

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

I would like to start this blog by saying hello, the reader (and to you, Elise!). Today we sailed from Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda to Anegada Island. On the way there, I was skippering as usual and a HUGE puff of wind hit and we heeled over so far I almost fell! Afterwards, we put a few reefs in our sails (meaning we made the sails smaller). And just kept on keeping on. Following our approximate 2 hours sailing at about 9-10 knots, we finally arrived on Anegada. We swam and ran on the flattest island in the BVIs and ate lunch there as well! We had so much fun it was crazy! Once all that was over, we sailed to Vixen Point near Prickly Pear Island. I was skipper as we moored here and we just barely made it because we lost our boat hook! So, now that we are here cooking dinner, showering and for me writing the blog, we are settling down here, at ActionQuest, in the beautiful, refreshing, British Virgin Islands!
