Day 20- Race Day

Location: West End, Tortola
Author: Jake J.
Today was the race day for all of the monohulls. Our boat got closest to the wind in the starting lineup, but when we tried to unfurl the jib, the working sheet got overridden. We had to luff our sails to fix the problem, so we ended up last. However, slowly but surely, we gained on the other boats and finished the race in 4th. I was at the helm the entire time, so I was exhausted afterwards. After that, we motored to West End while we cleaned the boat. After docking at West End and finishing cleaning the boat, we all went out and ate at various restaurants.

Day 19

Location: The Bight, Norman Island

Today it hit that our trip is almost over. It has been really fun. Today we had our sail theory test. We also dove the Rhone, which is a shipwreck. Although I snorkeled the wreck, it was still cool to see. There’s a myth that if you rub the bronze porthole you will have good luck. Almost everyone rubbed it. We also went on a hike through salt ponds and saw a beautiful view of the ocean. After that we went to the Bight, where we’ll stay for the night.

Day 18- Almost the End :-(

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Nikki R.
Today we went to the capital of the BVI, Road Town. But first in the morning, True, Emma, Jacob and I couldn’t wait any longer for wakeboarding so grabbed our pancakes and jumped in the dinghy with the best skipper ever, Tor. It was a great way to wake up to wakeboarding and stuffing pancakes in our face. After sail side B got to wakeboard, we sailed across the Sir Francis Drake channel into Road Town, and I drove the boat. When we got there I was really proud because I was controlling the helm and throttle onto a mooring ball all by myself. Then I got on land and Will interviewed me and True about our time here. BTW it’s awesome here! It’s the end of day 18 and I’m sad to leave all my friends. I’m gonna miss them so much but also excited to see my family and sleep on a bed that’s not moving!
