BVI: Session 1 - Lady Aubrey

Day 16- Another Day In Paradise

Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Author: Madison M.
After our action filled day yesterday, all of the shipmates woke up pretty tired, but also fully equipped with a positive energy for the day ahead of us. Once we finished breakfast, Lady Aubrey set sail for the water in between Sandy Cay and Tortola where we started our practical sailing test and went over the majority of the things we learned about sailing. We then pulled in the sails and motored over to Sandy Spit to relax and enjoy some beach time. All 14 of us hopped back on our monohull and ate a delicious dinner under the sky of another day in paradise.

Day 15- Hiking Mt. Sage

Location: Sidney’s, Jost van Dyke
Author: Aiden C.
The boat woke up and quickly we ate and then prepared for the long hike up. We met at the dock at 7 and at 7:30, we began the hike. The first and longest part was the initial hill. Just walking was strenuous and it took about 45 minutes to reach the top. From there, we continued following the winding road up and back down, which took about three hours. We then enjoyed a cheeseburger in paradise. By 1, we boarded the dinghy back to Lady Aubrey and made a quick trip to Sandy Cay, where a sandcastle contest took place. After that, we headed to Sidney’s and rafted up for the night.

Day 14

Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Author: Trey G.
Today was a very eventful day. We all woke up in Sommer’s Beach and quickly motored to Muskmelon Bay. This was a very short hop and we ate breakfast on the way! Shortly after we arrived, we began activities! We watched a few sailing videos! One of the videos was about a man who sailed a large cargo sailing ship. The video was very unique and interesting. Next, we went wakeboarding and knee boarding! A lot of people did 360s on the kneeboards. It was fun to watch and do! Next came the moment we had all been waiting for… diving! Today was a big day for all of us. It was the last open water dive! We are now officially certified divers! After, we all had lunch of soup and peanut butter and jellies! After lunch, we set sail for Cane Garden Bay! This was a very relaxing sail! When we arrived, we filled our water tanks and anchored for dinner. We had Thai chicken and brown rice! Now we are sitting around watching the sunset in Cane Garden Bay. Today was truly amazing.

Day 13- Another Day Of Adventures

Location: Sommer’s Beach, Tortola
Author: Stella L.
All of us woke up and ate a yummy breakfast of eggs and lemon poppy seed muffins. After cleaning up the deck and getting ready for the day ahead, we did relay races in Picos AND we got to communicate through the radio. We then continued our action packed day by scuba diving in open water. Since I couldn’t participate in diving because of my ears, I helped get the gear organized and helped make lunch for Sailing Curls, which is the boat we dove off of. After a really good lunch of tuna/PB+J sandwiches, we all gathered for a sailing chat about different systems aboard the boat. Then the afternoon was spent doing watersports and sailing to Sommer’s Beach where all of ActionQuest had a BBQ. The sun was setting and after having some delicious burgers and dogs, a bunch of us took a quick swim. We are now back on our beloved boat, Lady Aubrey, listening to Latin music while taking turns showering. I cannot wait for tomorrow and really hope my ears get better soon!
