BVI: Session 2 - Squeaky Brat

Chill Vibes

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Jared M.
After our late night at the BBQ it was a little bit of a hassle to wake up in the morning. After our breakfast, we cleaned up and chilled while listening to music on the deck for 2 hours. Then we got picked up and went to the beach so we could race Pico sailboats. After that, we came back to the boat and learned dive tables! Originally, half the boat failed but eventually, we all got 100%. We went to the dock to fill up on water and gas but unfortunately, we didn’t get any shore time. Then we sailed to Mountain Point. The anchor was jammed and Max had to sit on the anchor to snub the anchor. It was Mexican night on board the Squeakybrat. After dinner, we had our last scuba chat and we all went to bed.

BBQ Night

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Joaquin M.
Last night we all slept on the blue lagoon or on the floor again, even though it didn’t rain at all. For breakfast, we had some cereal and then an hour long video on coral reef conservation. After the coral reef video, we had a knot-tying class. We practiced knots for an hour or so before going snorkeling on the mangroves, where we saw some pretty cool fish living under the shade of the trees and the shelter of the roots. Right after our snorkel session, we went skiing and wakeboarding without stopping to rest. Tonight is the beach BBQ which we are all looking forward to.Today was non-stop rotation day. Tomorrow we will probably get sailing again and get some to relax underway. No idea what we are doing tomorrow really, but it will be great for sure!

Storm Day

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Max H.
Last night we had the most rain we’ve had so far so we all had to sleep in the blue lagoon. It rained until about 12 noon today which I guess wasn’t the best situation but we managed to work with the rain. Since we had a good lay in the morning, which was quite nice, we set off about 11 am due to the wind and rain. As we sailed the boat was hard to steer and it was tilting up and down. We managed to lose a towel in the process which blew off the lifelines. We then finally got to Leverick Bay, which is where there was a small village where we got to catch up with family and friends. We also had a chance to buy stuff from the supermarket. We ended up with many snacks. Dinner tonight will be great as we get to dive into good veggie burgers which are being cooked by Max. Let’s hope they don’t end up burnt. Looking forward to a great day tomorrow.

First Diving Experience!

Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Author: Sydney H.
Today we woke up and had breakfast then headed over to the beach for watersports. In the morning we were taught how to windsurf and then were taken out to do some waterskiing, wakeboarding, or knee boarding. Many of us learned how to drive the dinghy, too. After a very busy morning, we headed back to the boat for lunch. At this point, we were all very excited to head back to the beach for our first experience of scuba diving! We did 3 total dives to practice the skills we had learned through the scuba chats. It was so cool to take our first breaths under water and left us all anxiously awaiting our next diving experience. On another note, our boats usual shenanigans did not cease to appear whenever we were all together. We are all very excited to get back sailing again tomorrow and continue to explore all the BVI has to offer!
