BBQ Part 2

Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Author: Lauren C.
Today overall was an awesome day. We got up this morning and it wasn’t as early a start as usual. We got to sleep to 7:30! Hahaha! Then our instructors proceeded to tell us we had two quizzes on knots and parts of the boat. While they told us this I realized I knew one out of seven knots and I knew zero of the names so I spent the next 2 hours cramming information into my brain! Luckily I had some pretty great shipmates who taught me everything I needed to know. We had breakfast this morning and the chefs (Caleb) did an awesome job. Next, we went out sailing and did man overboard drills I was skipper today, so I was the 1st person to take the helm and man was I terrified. Luckily again I succeeded with the help of my friends. After everyone went through the drills we made our way to where we were anchoring for the night. It began to rain so hard, but we all just danced through the rain. Once out of the storm we saw the cutest island ever. I got so excited because we found out the barbecue was there on that island. We came back home and took down-below showers in the heads which was nice. Now I am finishing this blog while all of my friends attempt to distract me. date: Aug 10, 2017

Today was a very eventful day because we got scuba certified. The day started with breakfast. Next, people went wakeboarding, waterskiing, and kneeboarding. Jackson stayed up on the wakeboard for approximately 20 minutes. Sean also defined the laws of gravity while he was kneeboarding. After the morning activities, we all came back to the ship and had soup for lunch. Next, we went to Wind Shadow and 11 out of 12 of the people got scuba certified and went to a depth between 50 to 60 feet. To celebrate our accomplishment we jumped off the boat. Maddy’s group saw a stingray. The last rotation of the day was when everyone got coral reef conservation certified. Throughout the day we somewhat hung out with Bella Vita and got two certifications. The trip is coming to an end, and we’re giving we are trying our best to cherish each moment. date: Aug 9, 2017

Stepping Up

Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Author: Caleb D.
Today was a pivotal point in our cruise. Under my command, most of the crew stood up and took to their chores and various jobs, letting the staff sit back. This all started at 5:30 in the morning… well maybe 8, anyways it was early. Some of the crew rose promptly to send the sheets to the wash. After that, some crew still sitting made the best pancakes that I have ever had in a boat in the BVI on 8/8/17. Today was planned to be a sail day, but after farther contemplation, it was still a sail day. Stepping up happened again as most of the crew made the ship ready to make way. With everything the shape of a ship, and me at the helm, we cruised out of the bay and into the sea. Most of the crew set to work bringing up the sails. Having this done we each took our turns at the wheel to take our sailing tests. Watching each crew member take their turn was an amazing time. Lunch was made and eaten underway. We sailed until evening and ate dinner together discussing everything that we had learned today. We cleaned up as the staff was able to plan the next day in the perfect educating cruise. date: Aug 8, 2017

A Day in Paradise

Location: Marina Cay

Today was a very special day. We began with a delicious meal of cereal, fruits, and Gatorade. After a satisfying meal, we took a refreshing scuba dive at The Chimneys. We then sailed through gorgeous BVI and moored at Trellis. We ate at one of their local restaurants Jeremy’s Kitchen. I had their baby back ribs and it was fantastic. We all explored around the island for another 2 hours and got some great souvenirs. When we returned back to the boat we all relaxed in the salon. I had fun listening to music, playing card games, and telling jokes. This was my favorite part of the day. I learned a lot about my crewmates and enjoyed spending time with them. Today was a great day. date: Aug 7, 2017

Scuba For Life

Today was great! We started the day with some scrambled eggs and blueberry muffins. After breakfast and cleanup, some of us went waterskiing while others were learning to tie knots. We continued the day with reviewing our scuba material for our final exam. Lunch was a little hectic because some of the grilled cheeses burned, but after a couple tries, we were able to make perfectly golden grilled cheeses. Finally to my favorite part of the day- our first open water dives with my favorite dive instructor Andy. While underwater we got to see two stingrays. For dinner, we got to eat chicken with risotto and salad. My favorite part of dinner, however, was listening to Jay’s great playlist and watching the sunset. Can’t wait for tomorrow. date: Aug 6, 2017
