BVI: Session 2 - Wind Shadow
Posted: Mon, Jul 24, 2017
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
We started the morning off bright and early at 6:30. A quick breakfast of oatmeal and fruit to prep us for a day of racing. After breakfast it was time to get ready to race, we all dressed in blue and headed to the starting line. Our first race was from Sandy Spit to West End. At West End, we had an afternoon on shore to eat and explore. Shortly after that, we headed back to our boat to get ready for the second race of the day. The second race was a bit longer than the first. We sailed from West End to Peter Island, where we will be anchored for the night. We got to swim some before we started to get ready for dinner!

It was a sailing day today. After leaving Little Harbor this morning we sailed around for a bit, working on our man overboard drills. Unfortunately for us, Dale kept falling overboard so we would have to continuously rescue him. After rescuing Dale about a dozen times, we anchored at the island closest to the one we made sand castles at yesterday, Sandy Spit. Then we ate an awesome lunch of PB&J and tuna fish. Some of us went to the beach soon after that, but a few had to stay to take our scuba chat tests, like me. Tonight we will be doing another Lifeworks Forum with the other sailing group boats, Erocibar, Bella Vita and Squeakybrat. I hope we will have several more sailing days like this- it was really fun!

Week 2 ActionQuest BVI Video Update
Location: British Virgin Islands
It’s been another busy week in the BVIs for Team ActionQuest. Rescue Diver training and our Marine Bio course are in full force, most students are now certified scuba divers and many are working hard towards their IYT sailing certifications! Today over 200 members of Team AQ reached the summit of Mt. Sage, the highest point in the BVIs. We’re now well over half way through the trip and some of our students share what is important to them about their experience so far. #LifeActivated
Location: Sydney’s, Jost van Dyke
We had a delicious cereal breakfast bright and early to get ready for the long day. Today we were to hike the tallest mountain in the Virgin Islands, at the top of Tortola. It took about 2 1/2 hours to hike up and down the island ridge. It was an amazing feeling reaching the bottom and eating all the ice cream my heart could dream of. We boarded the ship and sailed off to a new beach/island where all the boats came to participate in a sandcastle contest. The results have not been announced yet, but I have confidence we will win with our ripped Poseidon. We departed and have just reached Sydney’s for a barbecue with reggae music and my beautiful dancing.

Another Day in Paradise
Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Today was a sunny day. We started off by watching an old sailing movie. Later on we went for a swim and did some sailing. The day consisted of many laughs and great memories. Today was day 14 and time is flying by, I feel like the crew is becoming more of a family instead of friends. Cant wait for tomorrow.
