Week 2 Video Update from the BVIs
Location: British Virgin Islands
It’s been another busy week in the BVI. Marine Bio research and Rescue Diver training are in full force, most students are now certified scuba divers and many are working hard towards their IYT sailing certifications! We’re now over half way through the trip and some of our students share their experiences so far. #LifeActivated
Sailing in Circles
Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
After the hike yesterday everyone woke up sore. Luckily french toast was on the menu. Yum. With tummies so full they could burst, we headed out for our practical sailing exam. Hopefully we all passed. After sailing in circles for a few hours we headed to Sandy Spit for some beach fun. We walked around and found some dope rocks. Sebastian learned how to swim with the fish. Yay! Everyone had fun relaxing and soaking up some rays. Then we came back to shower and make some din din. We all watched the beautiful sunset and got some rest for the big race tomorrow.

Best Day Ever
Location: Sidney’s, Jost van Dyke
We woke up and made our way to the dock to begin our spectacular climb towards Mt. Sage. On our way to the top, we saw beautiful views. When reaching the top we signed a book to acknowledge our success of completing the challenging hike, drank banana smoothies, and went down. Afterwards we set sail towards Sandy Cay where we had a sand castle competition, swam and explored. Next, we left for Sydney’s Peace and Love restaurant where we will have a BBQ and the winner of the sand castle will be revealed (hopefully the next skipper will write that we won).

Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Today the Erocibarians started the day with some oatmeal while motoring to Muskmelon Bay. After that, the Erocibarians split up into advanced divers and open water divers. The advanced guys went on with their deep dive of 75 feet, while the open water divers went on their last dives before becoming certified divers! While the tropical wave touched us, we enjoyed some PB+J. As soon as the storm left, we started the waterskiing period. After that we motorsailed to Cane Garden Bay, where we will spend the night and get ready for the hike tomorrow! Can’t wait til tomorrow!

Location: Sommer’s Beach, Tortola
As we come to about halfway through our trip, the shipmates all woke up this morning with tired eyes. But this didn’t stop us from filling up with a great breakfast and starting the day with a Pico pirate treasure hunt. The Erocibarian crew split into two teams, Barbosa and Jack Sparrow. Objects, like a bowl, dish soap, water bottles, etc. were scattered in the area and when we heard go… IT WAS ON! Team Jack Sparrow won, but sadly no treasure was kept 🙁 At this point in the day the Erocibarians split between our advanced and beginner sailors for a rotation day. Coming from a beginner, we got to practice tying knots and once again getting used to being on the helm. We do have a practice sailing test coming up, so we need all the practice we can get honestly. The advanced sailors also got to sail and study. Although we weren’t together, I can say we all had a very eventful day. We are heading out from Muskmelon to our beach BBQ at Sommer’s Beach now. Tonight will be fun and delicious and the Erocibar crew has so much greatness ahead.
