The Show Goes On

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Clemmie F.
Today we started by waking up extra early to sail from Vixen Point to Mountain Point. It was a beautiful sunrise. Although we only motored to Mountain Point it was a gorgeous ride and a very nice way to wake up. Once we got to Mountain Point we anchored in the fleet with most of the other ActionQuest boats. Mary Jewell was at the back of the fleet so we were at the back of the group, which give us a beautiful view without any obstructions. Today was another rotation day. We started with waterskiing with Jack and Averill (our skipper) driving the dinghies, we had a blast and got lots of wind. Our second activity was man overboard drills. We learned lots of drills and hopefully what we learnt will help us when that actually happens (let’s hope it doesn’t though). For lunch we had an amazing soup made of white beans and some noodles. After lunch the Questers went snorkeling and saw amazing coral and sea animals and creatures. The Vegas went on their checkout dive to prepare them for the actual thing, going down as low as 30 feet. The Barracudas went on a naturalist dive looking at plants and animals, which is a really exciting dive. Later on MJ’s shipmates had shower time, which is most of the shipmates favorite activity, especially mine. For dinner we had a delicious caesar salad with chicken, risotto, and corn. As always cleanup is not everyone’s favorite activity, but of course the Mary Jewell’s shipmates always seem to make it fun and exciting . Be blasted Beatles music and danced while cleaning up. Tonight the Quest are completing their certification for CPR. The Barracudas are doing a night dive for the first time (exciting!) and the Vegas are going to be briefed on what they are doing tonight- supposedly and exciting mystery night! The weather today was fantabulous. It was calm and warm, perfect weather for all the watersports. I know that the shipmates miss their families, but don’t worry, we’re having a lot of fun. P.S. We all love the song “The Show Goes On” so it was blasted all day!

A Lot of Mini Sailboats

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Today was a rotation day for the fleet. This means we switch off doing multiple activities throughout the day. First we went snorkeling in the many coves and saw a lot of cool fish. While we were snorkeling the Barracudas dove Seal Dog. Then we got to windsurf at the beach. I think we are really getting the hang of it. After windsurfing we had some extra time so I went with Rory in a mini sailboat called a Pico. That was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Wow, What A Day

Today we were all awoken by a blast of the ship’s interesting arrangement of tunes. We started off our day with some intense windsurfing, followed by a meal of mac and cheese. After lunch we had an hour chat about tying knots. It was a lot of fun learning about a wide variety of important knots. On our next rotation we got a choice to try wakeboarding, kneeboarding, or waterskiing. I think we all found this an amazing experience. After all of the watersports we found ourselves in a huge night of music and dancing. That was the end of an amazing day.

Day 6

Today we sailed from Savanna Bay to Anegada. Once anchored at Anegada, we had a quick lunch with Nutella! We all loved having the Nutella as our special treat. So after lunch we went to the beach at Anegada. The water was so clear, but had a lot of hidden coral. Later we left the beach and came back to the boat, and then continued our sail to Vixen Point. On our sail we saw Necker Island, which is owned by Sir Richard Branson. It was exciting to see. The weather today was amazing. After our first Lifeworks forum last night the skies stayed clear even through today. We are staying the night at Vixen Point and are looking forward to an exciting tomorrow!

Water Adventure

Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda

Today the weather was great. It was a little rocky on the boat though. We stayed on the beach all today. We started off the day with eating oatmeal for breakfast. We soon took the dinghy to the beach. We then started watersports. Vega students went scuba diving. Other people from the other boats joined us. The water sports included windsurfing, skiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding. We took a break to go to lunch. Then it started raining. We ate a soggy lunch and then were off to the beach again. It was a really fun day. For dinner we are having garden burgers. I can’t wait for when we set sail tomorrow.
