Today we woke up in Trellis Bay after another rainy night. We had a quick cereal breakfast and we made sure everything down below was clean and dry. We had a pretty lazy morning with a lot of laughs! Then we learned about dive charts and finished our dive book. Yay! Only the final exam to go (plus some diving) till we’re certified. We also had a sail chat and learned about markers to keep the boat safe. We had white bean soup for lunch and decided that you couldn’t say certain words (as they had been oversaid), and if you curse then you have to kiss the boat! So funny! After lunch had been cleaned up we set sail for Vixen Point. The conditions calmed down a little today. While we were sailing Mike drove up in a little motor boat and handed us food for dinner. It was so funny because everything almost fell everywhere! Once we got to Vixen Point we showered and made dinner. Mexican night! Mike came over for dinner, which was a nice treat. It was a pretty easy day, but we’re all a little tired and ready for some rest.

Today we got to sleep in later than usual, 7am! Breakfast was french toast that we had with nutella and peanut butter- thanks Cleo and Kordell! In the late morning we motored from Peter Island to Trellis Bay. In Trellis Bay we all made calls to home and stocked up on all the junk food our arms could carry.

We had a rough start to our day we woke up at around 12:30am to find it pouring outside where we were all sleeping. We all ran down below and ran into our cabins to fall asleep. We woke up at around 7 o’clock and Mia and Santiago started making breakfast, which was scrambled eggs and muffins. After a delicious meal we had to do the dishes like all the shipmates do at every meal. I of course had to clean the egg pot. Mia cooked 4 dozen eggs so she had to use the biggest pot. I had to scrub my hardest to get all of it off and it took forever to clean the pot. After cleanup we got dressed and got on the dinghy to go to Spindrift to start our first real open water dive. We got to Spindrift to get our diving gear on. Finally we got into the water and practiced our surface skills. After we finished our surface skills we started descending down to the bottom (which is about 30 feet down). We had an amazing dive and started to ascend up to the surface. We took off all our gear and headed back to our boat and had a great lunch of tortilla soup. While putting the anchor up we spotted a small sea turtle. It was so, so, so cute! We started sailing towards Peter Island and had the best time of our lives. We got to Peter Island and took a shower. After that we had cheddar broccoli pasta and played mafia. After a great day was done we all went to bed.

Today we started skiing and wakeboarding, which was really cool, and I think everyone managed to stand. After that we went to the beach and we Pico sailed and windsurfed and it was really cool. Almost everybody capsized the Picos and fell off the windsurf. Next we took our first dive!! It was really cool. We first had to set up all of our gear and then we were explained which skills we would do under water. We learned how to clear our masks of water, how to ask for and use the emergency air supply with our buddies, we learned about the different ways to purge the regulators. After that we went back to the boat and ate dinner. Today Santiago and I dropped a sheet, a towel, and a belt 15 feet deep and were successfully recovered, except for the towel.

Sailing, Swimming, and Seagulls, Oh My!
Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Today before setting sail someone stole our dinghy. We got one later, but I thought that was a lot of fun. When we were setting sail the instructor showed us many cool things for sailing, such as tacking. When we were stopped today everyone got to go swimming, and we all got to jump off the side of the boat. Afterwards we had dinner and everyone was making funny comments, so funny that I started crying out of laughter. Overall I thought today was better than yesterday. I can’t wait to live the adventures yet to come.
