Rainy Morning

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Oliver C.
Rain! A lot of rain! Today it rained most of the morning. The ship went down below for a dive and sail chat. After the chats came to an end the crew was delighted to discover that we would be going ashore for lunch. The wonderful aroma of fried, greasy food wafted into the crew’s nose. We then set off for Vixen Point, where I got to reverse park the boat. It was awesome! After a wonderful full day we got to relax with a shower. After a rainy morning it is now clear! A good day with a good skipper has come to an end.

First Port

Location: Trellis Bay, Beef Island

Today we sailed up Drake’s channel. Sail isn’t the right word because we motored our way up. The waves were pretty big and I slept a lot of the way. When we arrived at port we went on shore. Anyways, we got to call our parents for the first time and it felt good to hear my dad’s voice again. It’s been raining off and on.

Flying Fish Frenzy

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Anastasia H.
We woke up early this morning for a full and adventure filled day. For breakfast we had oatmeal, which was for me, the best breakfast we have had so far. Today was windy and a tad bit cloudy, which was perfect for all of the sailing we did. We sailed around the Seal Dog islands to Mountain Point, in which most of us got to try the helm and try tacking. When we anchored at Mountain Point we had lunch, which was tortilla soup. After lunch we went for our first open water dive!! It was very exciting and we saw many colorful fish and coral. The dive was very successful, some of the shipmates even saw a stingray. One of the things to watch out for though was the fire coral, which stings when you touch it. After our first open water dive we sailed to Peter Island. On our way we played Pictionary. We were split into two teams, Team Jacob and Team Awesome Ostriches! Pictionary was really a bonding and fun experience for the shipmates. Once we arrived at Peter Island we had dinner, which was pasta and a sort of biscuit thing with cheese on top. It was really good! Tonight we are having a sailing chat to prepare for our sailing test, our first sailing chat! .

Go Fish

Today we had to learn the basics of scuba diving. Tom and Jake taught me the basics, they were really helpful for me. Tom makes me laugh all the time. My short time at AQ has made me a more mature young adult, thanks to good influences I plan on coming back next summer.

First Day of Sailing

Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Author: Cesar T.
Today was the first day and we learned about sailing. Sailing is the most confusing thing, but it is very fun. Sailing is like completely learning a new language. The trip was about six hours so almost all of the crew fell asleep. Then I got to anchor the ship. After that we learned how to set up the scuba gear and it wasn’t that confusing. I think we all got it down.
