Another Rotation Day!

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Emily E.
Today was another rotation day! We started out doing man overboard drills. The Vegas went on their first open water dive today. They saw a lot of cool fish and even saw an octopus. Most people mentioned this dive as their favorite part of the day during the squeeze, our nightly ritual. Carinas dove too and also had a lot of fun, even though they didn’t see an octopus. I got to get my CPR certification at this time. We all came together for lunch, hot soup on a hot day, we were skeptical but it was delicious! After lunch we went to a navigation chat with Craig. It may have been boring but we learned a lot. Lastly, we had watersports. The majority of our boat was exhausted by this point and opted out. Luckily for Jess and Nathan they chose to go and were able to get up for the first time. Chef Jani was in the galley again tonight and he and Michael made a delicious thanksgiving meal. We are currently enjoying free time trying to get awake before we sit through another sail chat tonight.

Day 9

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Today it was ridiculously sunny and calm with no rain (crazy man!) and not much wind and waves. The visibility in the water was awesome. Today most of our boat took their open water dive exam and everyone passed obviously because our boat rocks. During the time the four people in advanced scuba got ready for our next few dives, which I think are the boat dive, deep dive, and the Rhone. After that I went on a dive which was 65 minutes around the reefs and it was so cool, I felt like I was swimming around in a huge aquarium because of all the colorful fish that I’ve totally seen in aquariums. The next thing we did was practice driving the boat on mooring balls, which makes no sense to you non-sailing bloggers, but no worries because the first few tries the crew might have been in a similar state of confusion…. However our sailing skills are coming along nicely. Overall the mooring ball thing was fun since Craig and Ted were on a roll with the jokes. After that we sailed Picos and swam from the boat, which was relaxing and fun. As I write this, huge tarpin are jumping out of the water and the sunset is beautiful. Tomorrow we are doing laundry. Why am I horrible at packing- I’m about to run out of tshirts and my bag is massive! We are doing other things tomorrow, I’m pretty sure we’re all diving and the Vegas have their first open water dive and I’m excited for them and excited for my own too! I’ve really loved diving here, the water and marine life are unreal. Basically today was awesome.

Docking In Port And Not In Starboard

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Carles P.
Today at morning we docked in Leverick Bay. We were there for 45 or less time, enough for buying some food or some bracelets for example. Then we had been sailing two hours because we had to go to an amazing beach in Anegada. There wasn’t too much sun so we had been walking down the shore or swimming. At half past two we left from there to Mountain Point. So we had been sailing for three hours. Nevertheless sailing is one of the best experiences that I have ever felt, so was today sailing with my other friends. At Mountain Point we have taken a shower and immediately we ate an amazing Mexican dinner.

Rotation Day

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Louise R.
This morning we woke up early as usual, and ate cereal. It was a rotation day today so we started off by sailing Picos! It was a lot of fun, although Virginia and I capsized, we still managed to place second in the race. After that we learned diving tables and had lunch. Then we went snorkeling in the mangroves! We saw so many cool things, such as feather dusters, barracudas, and lobsters. Then we learned how to sail a Rhodes 19. We got in a competition and we lost. Virginia, our captain, made us lose! Tonight we have our first beach party, hopefully it will be a blast! Tomorrow we set sail to somewhere new! Later: the beach party was so fun! We ate food, danced, and watched the staff members “play with fire.” Today was great!

Rotation Day 2!

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Jeanne S.
Today we woke up early as usual, with the delicious smell of french toast. We had our second rotation day, we started by a knot lesson, that was interesting. After we went to the beach to have team bonding. Then we were pleasantly surprised to eat mac and cheese! After this delicious meal we could do watersports like wakeboarding, waterskiing, that was funny for some people, more difficult for others… At 3pm we were forced to windsurf, we were reluctant because we were tired. After we took our showers. We were very excited to eat, we were very hungry, but then it started raining so we had to go inside, but Carles stayed and took shelter in the tent on deck instead. He then had to run through the rain to get inside to eat dinner, that was so funny! Tonight we have a sail chat, the first one, no idea what we’ll do, we’ll see!
