A Great Day

Location: George M.
Author: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today started off with us waking up early to motor to another part of Mountain Point. As soon as we got to our dive site, we began strapping our BCDs to the tanks and attaching our regulators. For us Neptunes, we had a dive that would go towards our Fish ID specialty. For the Dolphins, they did pretty much the same thing except they went snorkeling to check out the mangroves after. Then we motored to Leverick Bay to have lunch and check out the stores. Afterwards, we (Neptunes) moved to Luna Kahuna to talk about our boat diver knowledge review. When we finished up, we got to jump off their boat and mess around for a while. We soon were able to get back to Pure Joy so that we could drop stuff off. Next, we went to the beach and had a great time participating in relay races and learning more about sea turtles. Now we are getting ready to go to the BBQ, another great ending to another wonderful day aboard Pure Joy.

Diving the Chimneys

Location: Sarah P.
Author: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today started with some rain so we had a quick breakfast and then settled in to watch a movie. After, we motored over to our next dive spot at the Chimneys. With the sun back in the sky, we set up our dive gear and headed into the water for one of the most beautiful dive we’ve done so far. We saw a wide variety of fish and vibrant coral. We also worked on controlling our buoyancy. Next, we headed back to the boat for some amazing mac n cheese. Then we entered the next phase of our advanced diver certification with a lecture on fish identification. Finally, we came back to the boat for some garden burgers and the question of the day. Overall, it was a great day for bonding with each other and for diving.

First Night Dive!

Location: Sophie V.
Author: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today was a really long day! We woke up at 6:30. After that, we sailed to one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, the Baths. Sarah, Charlotte, Isabelle, and I jumped off Jumping Rock before walking through the most beautiful white sand beach. After the exciting adventure, we motored to Spanish Town. We sailed to Mountain Point in order to familiarize ourselves with the dive site. We had an excellent dinner made by Alex and George. While night diving, everyone was really nervous and anxious because we were not sure what we should expect. Once we got into the water at 8:00 pm you couldn’t see anything. We all had a flashlight and a buddy in case of an emergency. The wreck dive was awesome and we saw plenty of tarpons, squid, and a stingray. This was an actual experience I will never forget. Best day ever!
