Day 19 – A Broken Sail But No Broken Spirits

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Author: Maddie H.
This morning we all woke up to the wonderful smell of pancakes filled with Nutella, Twix bars, peanut butter, and pirouettes, all made by our favorite pancake chefs: Hellie and Kaleigh. After breakfast, we had the choice to water ski, dive, or turtle tag. The visibility at GHP was amazing so all of the dolphins chose to try turtle tagging one last time. Although we did not catch any turtles, we had a blast snorkeling behind the boat and even “mermaid swimming” right up next to a few turtles. Next, we motored to Road Town and all got nice tans laying out on the roof on the way there. We got to try the best Gelato on the island before racing back to the docks to be picked up by Crush, the dinghy at 1:30. Once we arrived back on board Adonis, we promptly cleared the lines of our dry clothes and put our PFD’s on, ready to race! All of dive side, including the Neptunes, Dolphins, Rescue divers, and lifeworks, was ready for the annual race to Norman Island. With our war paint (zinc) on, we excitedly raised our sail only to find that our halyard block had snapped. Because we could not use our sail, we were no longer able to race, but instead for to do the count down for the race to begin and scream “Adonis!!” for everyone on the channel 72 to hear. We motored to the finish line and sheered for all of the other boats as they finished, not forgetting to have a sick dance party to all of the songs we have listened to over, and over again on the way there. Then, the staff left for a meeting and we were left to shower, cook, eat, and even judge a diving contest for Snow Cat. The staff were happy to know that we saved them dinner when they got home. Some other title options for today were: “broken sail, unbroken hearts” and “our sail may be down, but our hopes are up!”

Day 18 – Sea Pancakes!

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Alejandro E.
Today we started out day with some cereal. Then we had a long sail to Cooper Island where the dolphins did their final research dive, it was a really cool dive, we saw some big fish, 3 sting rays, and a lot of garden eels. After that we had PB+J sandwiches for lunch and then we did another fun dive. After that we had to work a lot, because the dolphins had presentations tonight and Neptunes had their final exam. After working we had Will over for dinner, it was hilarious! We talked about funny things, hen we had breakfast for dinner which included scrambled eggs and biscuits. Now I’m having help from my friend Mitch to finish this, the end.

Day 17 – The British Are Coming?

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Author: Kaleigh D.
Today was just another awesome day aboard Adonis. We began the day with a visit from Rose of Great White who was also decked out in full face paint of a British flag due to the prank she pulled at 4am this morning. After a breakfast of oatmeal we all headed out onto shoe for some shopping (as well as some awesome milkshakes). After shore time, we took off, heading back to GHP for a dive in the early afternoon. The Neptune crew tackled a fun dive around the reef while the dolphin group went for their final dive concerning their research projects. One group got particularly silly and decided to take their BCD’s off and play ninja, while underwater! After the dive, everyone headed back to the boat, Neptunes to study and dolphins began writing their research papers. After showers and an amazing dinner of Mexican food (prepared by our lovely chefs Lucia and Isa) everyone joined in for squeeze before beginning cleanup. Although many things were accomplished today, there were unfortunately two casualties. So please say a prayer for Taylor’s iPod (which is currently swimming with fish) as well as Ally’s dive watch.
