Staff Update Day 20

Location: West End
Author: Cayley
What a trip! In just three short weeks, the amazing crew of Peeps Larou has transformed from landlubbing scallywags to seafaring champions. We’ve been so impressed with all that our shipmates have accomplished as a team, from wining the AQ sandcastle contest (with Christian the singing mermaid) to achieving a close second in the dive sail race, with Tushar and Emily at the helm. We even climbed a mountain this week; Mt. Sage is the highest peak in the BVIs, and it was fantastic to see Marlena, Sam, Jake, Sophie, and Martina amongst the front of the pack! Now that we’re motoring back to West End where our adventure began, it’s getting all too real that our on-board family will be disbanding tomorrow. Rodrigo is deflating Jamal the turtle, and Lindsey, Pranav, and Jivi are “working on” the snack stash to “get rid of it”. We’re sad to be saying our goodbyes so soon, but so proud to be sending six new advanced scuba divers and seven specialty divers out into the world! We can’t wait to see where and how their adventures continue!

Last Day

Location: West End
Author: Pranav C.
Our days in paradise are over, it’s a very melancholy feeling to know that by tomorrow night we will no longer be together. We’ve made great friendships these past 20 days. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve dove. It has been great. Today was our final dive. It was gorgeous, we had team India dive the Indians, can it get any better than that? Sail side passed us as we were getting in to dive. They are racing today, so we had extra dinghies. As we got out of the water, our shipmates put some cheerios in the water and Steve (our seagull) came to say hello. We headed back to dock after all of the gear was stored. Our trip back was full of music and Boat Appreciation. We all chipped in and when we reached port there was not too much to do. We are going shopping with our friends now and having a BBQ with everyone later. I know we are all going to miss it here, but it has been great and I’m happy I had the opportunity to experience this. See you soon, Peeps!

Racing Day

Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Author: Marlena H.
Today started out with motoring over to the Fearless for a cool dive. We saw so many cool fish. We then sailed over to Road Town for lunch! Shopping, eating, and hanging out was so much fun and made us not want to leave. We then prepared for a very epic race! Getting our sails ready and listening to some pump up music, we prepared to kick some butt. We started off and began to take second place. After 45 minutes the race finished and we came in second. It was a close race. We then took a mooring in the Bight and made a yummy dinner. Now, on our final night on the water we write the yearly cards and prepare for our last day at AQ!

July 4th in the BVI

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

Most of us on Peeps are used to celebrating today with fireworks, bbqs, and family. But here in the BVI we have a different way of celebrating, starting with patriotic bathing suits and way too much country music. We got to sleep in until 7:20am today, then had a big bowl of cereal and got ready to start the day. It was a beautiful sail, being the only boat that actually sailed today because we are awesome. We dove the Beata wreck dive sites, it was pretty amazing. After we put our gear up it was chicken salad sandwiches for lunch and swim tie for those with extra energy. We got cleaned up and went for the second dive, which was a fun dive for the Dolphins and a wreck penetration for the Neptunes. After the penetration dive, it seemed like a fun time to float with Jamal the blow-up turtle and Billiam the blow-up orca in the waves above the wrecks. We got out, zipped up our PFDs and motored to GHP where the Dolphins will be presenting their projects and the Neptunes are taking an exam to get their certifications. PFDs on the line once anchored and breakfast for dinner started. We had a special surprise guest over for dinner (Mike). Dinner cleanup is going on now and we are starting to feel a bit nervous for our activities tonight. It didn’t rain today so I am going to take that s a sign that everything is going to turn out perfectly. Wish us luck!

Fun in the Sun!

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island

Today was certainly a day not to forget! The shipmates aboard Peeps were awakened with a wonderful surprise – a beautiful double rainbow above the ocean. It was truly a spectacular sight, the definition of a Kodak moment. After breakfast, the crew sailed over to West End for some time in port. Many shipmates enjoyed a delicious meal from a local coffee shop and shopped around. We returned to Peeps with two more shipmates – a giant inflatable turtle named Jamal and a huge inflatable orca named Billiam. We are confident they will make wonderful assets aboard our vessel. We continued our day with a dive and proceeded to fiesta with a Mexican night dinner after. All in all, today was another great day to be a Peep!
