Typical AQ Day

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Raul G.
Today we woke up at 6 in the morning. Blue skies received us as we walked into the cockpit. Our chefs had already started breakfast, which consisted of delicious pancakes. We had a rotation day ahead of us, first was waterskiing, then man overboard drills, followed by lunch. Right after lunch we dove, and then finally a navigation chat. The day went out pretty smooth, we had a lot of fun during waterskiing and diving. Eleanore managed to go up on the wakeboard for the first time ever. And we did get very good on our man overboard drills. We had turkey with stuffing and mashed potatoes, typical thanksgiving dinner. As I write this log entry the rain is dissipating and the sunset is dazzling us while we get ready for the night. Sail chat awaits us, then sleep. Goodbye from the BVI!

Rotation Day #4

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Today was rotation day number three. We started off nice and early as always. We had eggs for breakfast. Our first rotation was Picos. During first rotation advanced divers had to do book work and have a meeting. During second rotation, since everyone was done with dive exams, it was time for some boat appreciation. We cleaned everything and made the boat spotless. We then cooled off with some swimming. For lunch we had white bean soup. After lunch it was dive time. Advanced divers go to go through two amazing swim throughs. One looks exactly like it is out of the Little Mermaid. Open waters worked on some skill building work. Post dive we went to Knot Guilty and we all learned how to drive onto a mooring ball. They said we were the best all day long. We then had a dinner of chicken caesar salad. It was great food. We then had Lifeworks. An awesome day in the BVI.

Day 8

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Today our day started bright and early. We had to get up and have breakfast quickly because we were leaving to go to the Leverick Bay marina to fill up on fuel and water and take out the trash. This port wasn’t filled with a lot of shops, but it had a nice food market where we all restocked on snacks and drinks. We also had the chance to call home and say hi to our friends and family. After we headed out for our two to three hour sail to Anegada. The weather was beautiful today. The sun was out with some breeze. When the long ride was over we spent some time on the shore of Anegada. We met up with the other boats and walked along the shore. One girl, Natalie, was buried in the sand! It was so funny. We all laughed as she tried to wiggle her way out. After about two hours on shore and pictures being taken, we headed back to Caribbean Soul. Today the advanced divers are going on night diving! I’m so jealous. Casey and Annabelle are making cookies and brownies so when the divers come back they’ll have a delicious, hot dessert ready. Today was filled with things to do and we’re all excited for rotations tomorrow.

Day 7

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Day 6

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound

Today we stayed anchored at Vixen Point and had a rotation day. It’s absolutely beautiful here! After a fantastic day of wakeboarding, windsurfing, swimming, team activities, and knot tying, the entire Caribbean Soul crew was able to sleep out on the bow under the stars tonight without the interruption of rain. It’s amazing to fall asleep under a clear night sky and to take turns pointing out constellations!! The trust- building team activities today were so cool!! Although we were all hesitant at first, we took turns falling backwards off a high stool and being caught by the rest of our shipmates. I was screaming as I fell back, but my friends were there to catch me. It’s great knowing that I can rely on them when it counts, and even when it doesn’t. We’re all truly like one big boat family 🙂 Windsurfing was a blast too. The girls totally outperformed the boys, we rock!! Tomorrow we will be able to sail the Picos, which are cute little sailboats. We get to race and everything, I can’t wait!
