Tape Night

Location: Marina Cay
Author: Will S.
Today we woke up to the motor turning on, and the boat taking us to the dive site called The Chimneys. We took a mooring ball off of the island of Great Dog. Vegas enjoyed their second open water dive. We went down at about 7:30am and saw some amazing coral formations around large rocks, with schools of fish swimming all around. After our dive we had to hang out on the other boats while they dove off our boat. When everyone was done diving we went back to our boat to find lunch had been already made by our staff. After lunch we sailed on smooth waters to Marina Cay. There we found a nice store with lots of souvenirs and a frew snacks. We stayed at port for an hour and got to call home. We then went back to our boat. After a bit of relaxing we had a delicious dinner of tortellini with marinera sauce. We have a Lifeworks session with the entire ActionQuest fleet planned for tonight. It is supposed to be a special session called the tape.

Good Food, Good Dives, Good Vibes!

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda

Today was another rotation day. For the Vegas it was definitely one of the best so far, as we had our very first open water dive. The underwater landscape was a surreal, wondrous wonderland of swaying coral and darting fish. The dive lasted about 29 minutes and we reached a maximum depth of 30 feet. After this breathtaking experience we had a navigation chat, waterskied and wakeboarded, and finally learned how to react in a man overboard situation. The divemasters had an intense day of diving, as they helped to lead Vega and Carina dives. They saw an octopus, which was a spectacular sight. A delicious summertime thanksgiving dinner was the perfect ending to this busy day. Despite having to cover up the cockpit and run for cover halfway through the meal due to a typical, unpredictable cloudburst, the thanksgiving was one of the best and most enjoyable meals this far. Happy, satisfied, and utterly exhausted- this is the general atmosphere hovering over Bella Christine tonight.

Today we woke up and started a day of rotations. The divemasters started by doing a stress test while diving. They then went on a long dive in the cave of wonders. The Vegas started by sailing Picos. They then learned knots and sailing before going diving and working on their open water. We ended the day with a large boat clean. Tonight we will bake a cake and get a good night’s sleep.

Anegada Wooooo

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Natalie L.
Today we woke up and got sailing pretty early. We all had a quick shower of Hibiclens and then a breakfast of oatmeal. We were given half and hour to get on shore at Leverick Bay, and we all scrambled about towards the market to stock up on snacks. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to Bella C. to set sail for Anegada. Al told us we were in charge and we had to get ourselves and direct Bella C. towards Anegada. While on our way there Doug spotted dolphins riding with the bow. There were three adults and one younger small dolphin. We were all really excited to see some dolphins and were just about ready to jump in the water with them! We ate lunch on board after we anchored offshore of Anegada’s beautiful white sand beaches. After a meal of sandwiches and interesting conversations about bologna, we took dinghies to shore. There we played on the beach, went for walks, tossed a frisbee, and dug a huge hole (which I was later buried in). We all had a lot of fun hanging out together and with a few other people from other boats. Now we are back on Bella C. sailing back to Virgin Gorda. Everyone is exhausted and can be seen lying on deck in the sun. This is the life! And it’s nice and sunny today too! Fingers crossed it stays this way. Tonight is Mexican night which we are all looking forward to (especially Al). That’s all for now!

Rotation Day #3

Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Author: Daniel G.
Today was our third rotation day. We woke up early as usual to a breakfast of cereal, and then we stayed on board to learn the dive table while the divemasters had their training. Afterwards we went out to snorkel in the mangroves where we saw a lobster, small barracuda, Needlefish, and where our dive instructors saw a sea turtle. We had to turn around early because of a storm. We had mac and cheese for lunch and then a little bit of free time. We blasted the music and just enjoyed our time hanging out. Then we sailed on Hunters and then tried sailing Picos. Afterwards we played a round of volleyball, in which our team dominated (obviously). Now we are about to have a BBQ and dance on the beach! Should be fun. See you all in 14 days!
