Day 13- S.S.S. (Sailing, Shopping, Swimming)
Posted: Wed, Aug 10, 2016
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we sailed back to West End from Sandy Spit and then went to port and then had a practice sail race to Great Harbor on Peter Island. We all took turns on the helm, the main sheet, jib sheet and halyard to check off for our sailing practical. Jake was very patient with all of us. I had a lot of fun helming the boat and going through a lot of points of sail including beam reach, close haul and heaving to. Around 10:45 we sailed into West End and docked there until around 12:45, spending time eating, shopping and talking. Everyone bought a lot of stuff, West End has some great shops! At 12:30, Emma and I headed to the skippers meeting at Harbor Market where we talked about the upcoming race. We came in last because our jib went up later than everyone elses and we were also pulling two heavy dinghies. After finishing the race, we took showers and swam around for a bit. Haley and Erica made an amazing dinner of Mexican night and now we will have our final sail chat. All in all, it was a great day.
