Day 7- Last Confined Water Dive
Posted: Thu, Aug 4, 2016
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we woke up with our eyes only half open, half of us falling asleep as we left Virgin Gorda as the morning CD plays. We tried to grab some energy from the songs, but were unsuccessful. We arrived at Mountain Point, opening our eyes to amazing houses sitting along the coastline. Our first rotation was sailing with Griffin and Ruth. We had troubles at first because of our skippers not communicating. As we learned today, skippers have to be loud and clear to everyone. Later on, we practiced man overboards. Ruth drew the game plan out on a board as we zoned in. The boat couldn’t turn at first, with the skippers having trouble with the wheel because of the wind. As time ticked down to lunch, we started to get into a rhythm. Lunch came around and we all had empty stomachs to fill. Sandwiches were made as people stuffed chips in their mouths. As we finished we grabbed PFDS, but we were told the plans had been changed so we grabbed our rash guards and prepared ourselves for diving. We were driven in a dinghy to Sailing Curls. As we boarded we grabbed our tanks and prepped our tanks for scuba diving. Scuba diving was fun and nerve-racking because of all of the new techniques and drills we learned and accomplished. One of the hardest drills was when everyone had to take off our masks and swim with salt water rushing into our eyes. Anyway, everyone passed and now can participate in the open water dive tomorrow. Now we are about to eat Mexican food.
