Today was quite eventful. The day started for me around 7:15 when I had to attend a skipper’s meeting. We were debriefed about the sailing race later in the morning. I of course represented my people and tribe with my ceremonial war paint. After the meeting, I spoke to the warriors about where we were sailing. Starting the race was a huge adrenaline rush. During most of the race, I was our chief at the helm. We all yelled out our war cries; the drums were beating as we set off (aka music). During the race, we came really close to another boat. Because of this, we were penalized and had to do a 360. My people are very skilled, however. We made a good comeback from this and bet our rival tribe Squeaky brat. After our epic race, we cleaned for most of the day. The entire boat was soaked in bleach and cleaning supplies. Later we made it to port and continued to clean up to the point of me writing this right now. However, we still have a lot of time planned out with shore time and a dinner BBQ. Today has been tiring and long. I could not ask for a better day to be our skipper. To my crew- thank you for everything, and to my family and my crew’s family- we’ll see you soon.
