Bella Vita Staff Update Day 10
Posted: Fri, Jul 17, 2015
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Since the beginning of the trip, the sun has been shining and the trade winds have been perfectly consistent. After exploring the wonders of the Caves on Norman Island and spending our first night on the water together, we have become very accustomed to the boat during our amazing sail to Virgin Gorda. Ivor and Serena did great on the helm, whilst Ben and Ethan very quickly mastered the correct technique for using the winches onboard to control the jib sheets. After settling down in Savannah Bay we had our first rotation day, where Nacho demonstrated why he’s the king of watersports by making windsurfing look easy and pulling off some wakeboard tricks. Lauren, who has the world’s most contagious laugh, also tackled wakeboarding with a huge smile and with practice will sure master it. We headed next to Vixen Point, where Felipe showed his competitive nature by wanting to sail race everyone, regardless of whether it was in a Pico or 50ft boat! Melissa and Giovanna danced the night away at that evening’s beach BBQ with DJ Heavy B. A glorious sail to the flat and picturesque island of Anegada was many of the crew’s favorite part of the following day, where beach time and relaxing sails truly helped the crew bond together. Matt has become very much the team player, always helping with cleanup roles that aren’t his responsibility. Diving has become a focus of the crew with all excited for open water diving, and some stories will sure by told by John and Aaron for the rest of their lives after encounters with jellyfish and stingrays. Best summer ever? I’m sure all aboard Bella Vita will have something awesome or a new skill to share when they all return home.
