Day 19- Oh Say Can You Sea
Posted: Sat, Jul 4, 2015
Location: The Bight, Norman Island
This morning our chefs of the day began preparing a breakfast of pancakes, sausage and omelets made to order as we sailed from our dock in Tortola to Peter Island. We then went ashore to explore the small fishing village that sat directly net to a huge island resort. This town was home to an islander named Conrad, a man whose family had been residents on the island for generations. Unfortunately, Conrad passed away a few years ago, but we had the opportunity to speak with his nephew, Thurman and share stories about the island and his kind-hearted uncle. We walked along the beach and discussed in detail the drastic changes that have occurred overtime as hotels and resorts have expanded on the island. After returning to the boat we made lunch and had a relaxed afternoon swimming and snorkeling along the reef. Because it was the Fourth of July, our whole boat decided to line up in single file on the bow and sing “The Star Spangled Banner”. The other Lifeworks boat also joined in. At the end of the day, we made dinner and reflected on our time in the BVIs, as one of our last days on program came to a close.
