Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Today began to the sound of anchors rising. We enjoyed some oatmeal for breakfast. Adding some honey and brown sugar transferred the oatmeal into a delicious dish. We then started our rotation day. My first rotation was diving, and my instructor Max led Fritz and I to a depth of 60 feet. We spotted stingrays, massive crabs and so much more! When my diving group arrived at the ocean’s surface, everyone was smiling and shaking hands. After multiple dive tanks, an exam, 5 enjoyable confined water dives and four thrilling open water dives, we are finally PADI open water certified divers! We thanked all the instructors and headed to our next rotation. We learned all about Irving Johnson, one of the original sailors who inspired ActionQuest, along with watching an amazing video about Sea|mester. Our best rotation was watersports, which included wakeboarding, waterskiing, and kneeboarding. After cooling off in the refreshing Caribbean Sea, we sailed to Cane Garden Bay. I manned the helm, since I was skipper of the day, and I had a fantastic time. As massive waves waves pushed our boat, a rush of excitement flowed through my body. It was my favorite sail so far in the trip. When we arrived at our destination we were allowed to have freshwater showers, but unfortunately had to clean the heads as well. We prepared dinner and had a unique and delicious meal, which was Thai peanut chicken. After gobbling our meals down we had a sail talk and prepared for our sail exam. Generally today was an excellent and thrilling day, along with being my favorite day of the whole trip. Time has flown by during this voyage, so I hope the future will be enjoyable as the rest!
