Around here one often hears “lets go home” or “I can’t wait to get home”, in this context home is our boat, Spindrift II. This morning consisted of loud “Good mornings!” and “rise and shines” which, even if one is tired, they always put a smile on peoples faces. Breakfast consisted of Ryan’s breakfast burritos (four dozen eggs were hurt during this process). After cleanup, rescuers set up their gear and dolphins took a ride to another boat. Us dolphins had a day packed of work, but here all work is fun work. We began with a research dive followed by a starfish dissection, as Fluffy would put it, “It was lit”. Lunch time came closer, it was back home for us. Rescues and Dolphins got together to enjoy way too many grilled cheese’s. After that it was back to the water for all of us. Dolphins had their second naturalist dive while rescue’s learned new skills to help unconscious divers. And of course, just when we thought it was all over, there was a pleasant surprise for the dolphin crew… turtle tagging! We did not spot any turtles, but there were several other interesting animals. Now, to the best pat of the day, dinner. Tonight was ‘thanksgiving night” and every part of the meal was worth thanking. Everyone ate way too much, and we were all happy about it. After dinner the question of the night was: In the last 10 days what do you want to say thank you for? My answer refers to the first sentence of this blog, every time someone calls Spindrift home, it makes all of us on it a family and for that I am grateful.
