Day 9 A Salty Day At The Rhone

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Another day full of Surprises in the BVI’s. We started the day as beautiful as possible waking up to the sweet sounds of the ocean and some above average oatmeal. As we finished up breakfast we said farewell to Peter Island to make way to the infamous wreck of the Rhone. Nervously driving our beautiful Surprise I was fortunate to get to learn about the rock that sank the Rhone. Secretly praying that I would not mess up as I was receiving a history lesson. Once we arrived (safely if I do say so myself) Marina noticed the dive site was fairly quiet on terms of people. With a burst of excitement, we all hopped in the water! Minutes after we were in the water, the whole BVI dive community decided to show up. The dive was a little more difficult than usual. The current was strong and as the dive progressed, the wreck became more crowded. I can say that it was worth it though, the wreck was fascinating. After we surfaced and all climbed back on the boat, we decided to go anchor on the lee side of Salt Island. Once on the island we passed the time by playing a fun game of ninja before our adventure hike. The hike of Salt Island was a moment of fun pictures, facts and amazing scenery. Once off Salt Island we sailed back to Peter Island to get ready for our upcoming night dive. For it only being noon we had some time to pass on Peter Island. From listening to music, snorkeling and water skiing we made great use of our time. We ate dinner around 6:30 anxiously waiting for our night dive and more importantly.. Marina’s post night dive brownies. Once night fell we all grabbed our lights and then ourselves in the ocean. When we all descended we got to practice some key navigation skills… at night. Though, somehow, we all survived the navigation test and spent the rest of the dive with the lights off and admired the plankton. After the dive we all enjoyed Marina’s brownies. Everyone ate brownies and reflected on the day, thinking about the adventures that are still to come!
