Day 6 A “ruff” Day At Great DOG Island
Posted: Sun, Jun 21, 2015
Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
We had an extremely busy morning today. We were up early and motored over top Great Dog Island for our first dive of the day. We were all ready to go when SURPRISE, Marina informed us of a wreck of a plane that had been sunk at this dive site as a prop for a movie. Everyone had the chance to swim through the plane before the end of the dive. After surfacing we continued on our way to the Chimneys where we completed the second dive of the morning. We descended and saw some amazing fish and swam through a really cool trench. By the time we finished the dive it was time for the chefs to begin cooking lunch. After two dives in the morning we were all certainly hungry. We drove back to Mountain Point where we anchored last night and had some down time to prepare for our lectures in the afternoon. After a very long 24 hours, we had a joyous reunion with Rachel when she finally returned from a trip to Road Town. The Neptunes then left for a lecture on fish ID, and the Dolphins had a lecture on underwater naturalist. By the time both groups finished it was time for fresh water showers and then a dinner of veggie burgers, mashed potatoes and beans. Following dinner we all went to the bow to participate in a Lifeworks forum led by our shipmate facilitator Ethan.
