Day 13- Victorious

Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was a successful one aboard Changes. We started the day early, anchored near Sandy Spit. After eating a bowl or two of oatmeal we proceeded to finish our sailing practical assessments. Once this was complete we did a few man overboard drills where we tacked around to rescue our deckie bucket and fender. After this we set sail for West End, where we had shore time. Many of us enjoyed lunch and got to go shopping for food our souvenirs. Before leaving West End the skippers of each boat convened to discuss the race to Peter Island, which I attended. When the crew of Changes found out about the race, the excitement was off the charts. We left the dock in haste so we would get to a punctual start. We talked back and forth away from West End. Changes held the lead for almost the whole race. We were lucky enough to catch a strong breeze about an hour into the race, which allowed us to gain our winning lead. As we approached the finish line we looked back at our rivals Sambamba as they tacked for their final approach. It was too late. Changes had already crossed the yellow buoys that marked the finish of our 2 hour and 37 minute voyage. We are all ecstatic about our victory but are also excited for Mexican food tonight!
