Day 9: Fred is in the Head

Waking up today seemed a bit challenging. Almost everyone had trouble getting started but as soon as we learned of the day’s dive activities we were so excited. Our first dive was the RMS Rhone, a ship that sank off of Salt Island. After the 45 minute motor through a small squall, we arrived and all eagerly jumped in the water. At the bottom the currents were so strong it took us a while to get to the bow of the shipwreck. There was a huge turtle and a stingray. We immediately had to swim back to the boat because we were going through our air pretty fast. After we took a ride to shore and hiked Salt Island with the rest of the dive side boats. We returned to the boat to find lunch ready. The ride back to our original spot, GHP, was much easier. We geared up for our next dive and went down to practice rescue skills. Isaac and I were dive buddies and we saved each others lives. After we came up and were ready to dive again this time our objective was to find “Fred”. “Fred” was our “invisible” friend attached to a scuba tank. Everyone loved “Fred” and “Fred” was in the head at the beginning of the dive. Then “Fred” came to find us and got lost. We rescued “Fred” and completed our first lost diver recovery. Then we showered, chilled and jammed to tunes before eating Heather and Sophie’s unreal Mexican Night dinner. Now the sun is setting over GHP and we are ready for another dive chat tonight. Hopefully the stars are out tonight and it is clear. There is nothing like the indescribable scene the skies show us.
