Day 5 – Finishing the First Passage
Posted: Sun, Jul 13, 2014
The day started with a changeover of watch teams at 12am sharp. Team 1, consisting of Kris, Marco, Lydia, Jane and Matt starting their 12-3am shift changing over from Team 2 set to get their three hour break before the graveyard shift of 3-6am watching the sunrise. We arrived to Saba by 7:30am after our 15-hour passage where we spent the morning catching up on some much needed sleep. Lunch was chili served up by Billy and Marco with the assistance of Alex, which went down nicely after the long journey. The activity of the afternoon was snorkeling in the coral by the shores of Saba with many interesting animals to join us in our excursion. We also managed to find time for a spot of Dorkeling, a newly discovered method of snorkeling involving a snorkel and a dingy. After an early shower we all sat down for a sail chat with Kris, in which we prepared for the certifications we were aiming to achieve on this trip. In the evening we spent time taking things slow and relaxing on the boat to a very impressive sunset.
