Location: Lee Bay, Great Camanoe
Today we were woken up bright and early by the delicious smell of pancakes. A few of my shipmates decided to wake up super early to make them for us, which definitely started off the day on a positive note. After finishing our Nutella and peanut butter covered pancakes, we had a few relaxing hours on the boat just for talking and hanging out. Before we sailed to Virgin Gorda, we watched several eye-opening videos about the effects trash has on our oceans and environments as a whole. Then we set sail for Virgin Gorda, and I got the extremely fun opportunity to drive the boat. We hiked along a beautiful path with a breathtaking view of the ocean before arriving at a small, rocky beach. We spent some time there picking up trash that had been left on the beach and continuing to learn about the extremely negative environmental impacts that trash has. After leaving the beach and eating lunch, we sailed south of Virgin Gorda to see the Baths: gorgeous natural pools hidden amongst massive rocks. It was a great chance to experience some of the natural beauty of the BVI. We then sailed to Great Camanoe for a cookout with the other Lifeworks boat, Catalinaville. The food was delicious, and it was really fun to spend time just being crazy with the people from the other boat. Overall, today was relaxing, insanely fun, educational and eye-opening all at the same time and I feel like this describes every day here.
Love from the BVI!
