Everyone’s been keeping busy this past week and we now have several newly certified divers and sailors on board! We spent a beautiful day on Anegada at the beach. Evan went snorkeling with Carlos, Sebastian, and Gonzalo. Some enjoyed lunch at a beach-side restaurant, and some brought a picnic lunch from the boat! We ended the day with a fantastic night sail where everyone had a chance to drive the boat using only the compass! The following day Brendan snorkeled and everyone else dove at a cool site called the Chimney’s. Before we knew it, sail practical test day came, but after man tacks, jibes, heave-tos, and MOBs, Bailey, Marita, Eloise, Michael, Sebastian, Brenda, Carlos, and Gonzalo passed with flying colors! We spent the next two days in Muskmelon Bay on Guana Island, where all the shipmates finished their open water course! A relaxing beach BBQ was then enjoyed by all on Sandy Spit. The next day, with Sebastian at the helm, we competed in the first two sailing races. We did some smooth handling, and though we didn’t win, we felt satisfied that we had sailed the boat the best we could! In these last few days, the shipmates have been diving at the Rhone wreck, hiking on Salt Island, exploring Road Town, having one last ski, and nailing the sailing written test! We had an exciting final race and fun last day with each other before everyone heads for home! Even the staff are preparing to pack all the gear away and head off the island! If only summer really was endless…
