Day 6 – First Day Turtle Tagging!
Posted: Mon, Aug 5, 2013
Location: Vixon Point, Virgin Gorda
We woke up this morning at Mountain Point at 6:45 and got up and at em right after an ever so satisfying bowl of Frosted Flakes. Torin picked us up in Big Blue and took us over to Red Point on Virgin Gorda for a short hike and an eye opening talk about ocean pollution. After making the trek back to the dingy, we saw a small shark in Savanna Bay. We made it back to the boat just in time for lunch. We had planned on PB and J’s, but after a moldy bread crisis we settled on Ramen with Elliot’s special peanut sauce. It was delicious crisis averted! After lunch we cleaned the deck and waited for the six Quest kids to join us for turtle tagging. We grabbed our rash guards and headed to the bow for Turtle Tagging 101. We separated into teams and headed into the dinghies for some epic snorkeling. Although none of us were able to catch a turtle we did see some awesome sea life, and one team was able to catch a pair of shorts that had blown off our boat! Hurrah! After turtling, we sailed the Quest kids back their boat, showered, and prepared for the first barbeque beach party. Today was a blast!
