Day 16- Practically Sailing

I knew the day would be great when I woke up on deck next to two good friends. Waking up on deck is awesome because that means it didn’t rain during the night. The day got even better when I found out it was pancake day. The Nutella and peanut butter pancakes were so good. We immediately took off from Sydney’s Peace and Love and headed out to the bay for the sailing practical exam day. Being already certified mean I didn’t need to take the exam, but I also wasn’t allowed to help. It was so hard not to talk and help my shipmates but we made it through. We ate lunch at a heave to, which means we used our sails to stop us so we could eat our tuna fish. The only problem was we had no bread. We still ate tuna mixed with vegetables on saltines. We then continued with the practical day by doing man overboard drills. When we were finally done we headed to Sandy Spit where we are staying the night. On the beach at Sandy Cay we swam and ran around on the beach. My favorite part of the day was playing rugby on shore with a bunch of my friends. Dinner was rice and beans and although it doesn’t sound like much it was so good. Tonight we have Lifeworks and I can’t wait. I can’t believe we only have five days left and the days go by so quick. Goodnight from Tanis Marie.
