This trip is halfway over already! It’s hard to believe that it has already been ten days since this international crew stepped on board Changes. Although English is spoken all day, if you listen closely you may hear a conversation in French, Spanish, or maybe even German. Our crew comes from as far west as Vancouver, and as far east as Germany; from Massachusetts down to Venezuela- Coming from all parts of the world but working together in all parts of the world, but working together in both sailing and diving. Parker, Jonathan, Emily, and Harrison have worked hard on their Divemaster course, passing two exams with near perfect scores. When they are not in the water helping students, they are progressing towards their first aid and CPR certifications. Devon and Santiago, our advanced divers, have already completed their fish ID and boat diver specialties. Having just finished a night dive, they only need two more dives to officially become advanced divers. The Vegas, Victoire, Sep, Pedro, Jose, Jules, and Ben were all able to enjoy their first open water dive today. They all passed four quizzes and one exam with flying colors. When the crew of Changes aren’t diving, they are usually sailing. Everyone has learned to sail on the big boats, practicing mooring, anchoring, and simulating man overboards. We have even raced our little Picos against each other. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing, diving, beach BBQing, and swimming have kept us very busy and active for the past ten days. Tonight at our summertime Thanksgiving meal, we have had a chance to reflect on the trip so far and imagine the experiences on this journey yet to come.
