Day 2: So yesterday we landed in Sydney! We endured a 15 hour plane ride on a huge double-decker plane, most people hated it but honestly I kind of liked it. When they turned off all the lights except the pathway floor lights I felt like I was on the Star Trek Space ship. I slept for about 10 hours and watched the Gangster Squad and Family Guy for the remaining 5 hours. When we got to Australia we had to go through so many weird kinds of security. A cute beagle had to walk by all our bags and sniff them. Once we left the airport it was freezing! I guess that shocked a lot of people, but it felt great to be out of the country on the other side of the world, such a thrill. We took a van to our hostel and ate some breakfast at about 7:45 AM. By this time we all remembered each others names for the most part. There’s actually two Chloe’s on this trip, myself and one other, Chloe N. We’re still figuring out what to call each other but for now we’re just “The Chloes”. After we got settled into our rooms we went to Manly Beach and had a surf lesson. It was super fun, one of the instructors (the cute one) took me and Chloe far out and let us catch some green waves. It was so cool– I caught about 4 good ones and thankfully there was a photographer snapping pics of us. Paddling out is a really good arm workout actually! After that we ate dinner and got some “Meat Pies”… A few of us excused ourselves to the nearby Subway for a meatball sub the size of a new born baby. That’s totally understandable though because surfing works up an appetite. Today we woke up at 6 and dressed in warm clothes and boarded the bus after breakfast. We are still on the bus now, the driver has a little koala tissue box cover on his dash and its pretty adorable. We are going to the blue mountains today to hike! I have a feeling we are all going to get ripped on this trip from all the vigorous exercise. – Chloe T
