Staff Update Day 10

Posted: Wed, Jun 26, 2013

Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Author: Aaron
Greetings from scenic Mountain Point on the island of Virgin Gorda! We woke up to fresh made pancakes thanks to Bruce and Ellen, while talking about last night’s night dive for those in the Barracuda dive program. Calvin, Tucker, Ellen, Ally, Nick, Alex, and Ryan managed to spot a beautiful stingray and a baby shark on their first ever night dive in the BVI. On the Vega sailing side of the yacht, Sonali, Steven, Pablo, and Bruce are preparing to spruce up their navigational skills before we all begin mooring drills, where shipmates will have full control of both the helm and the throttle. With their new sailing knowledge, the shipmates of Tanis Marie are challenging each other to races on the Pico boats. There has also been a lot of success with waterskiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding! We’re seeing all the hard work and training pay off, as shipmates who have come from all over the world are working together as a crew rather than a group of individuals. We can now take small and gradual steps back as they manage and sail our yacht amongst these beautiful islands. A sincere thanks to the parents and family members who took the steps allowing these young individuals to thrive as shipmates at ActionQuest! The results have been remarkable! Can’t wait to get out there for more diving and sailing! We hope that all of you at home are enjoying our blogs!
