Staff Update Day 1

Location: West End
Over the past two weeks we have been unbelievably busy preparing for today. Every year we send a 40ft container filled nonperishable foods, new gear, and supplies we don’t store in the BVI year round. This year we even sent down a new 18ft rescue dinghy. All of this stuff needs to be sorted, inventoried and set up for the program. Today we spent the day prepping the boats for our new shipmates. We “fooded” some of the boats, making sure all our boats are stocked with breakfasts, lunch, and dinners for the session. In addition to fooding, we loaded on all the new dive gear and tanks! We can’t wait to get them in the water to try them out. With new gear and the boat rigged and ready to rock we are all waiting our new sailors. As we put the finishing touches on the boat, we can’t wait to meet our twelve shipmates and introducing them to the fun and exciting world of diving and sailing. Welcome aboard Laurasia!
Here is an introduction to the crew of Laurasia:
Mitchell- adventurer, fine food connoisseur and most importantly, sailor, joined ActionQuest in 2008 after his voyage aboard Sea|mester vessel Ocean Star. During the past 6 years he has finished his communications undergrad from the University of Utah while successfully skiing the worlds best powder. Mitchell is a seasoned EMT and currently holds a leadership role in sailing and staff operations at ActionQuest. He most looks forward to teaching the youth valuable life lessons while living aboard and sailing a yacht.
Tucker- dive instructor/mate
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Tucker found his love for the water and scuba diving as a shipmate of ActionQuest in 2006. After attending ActionQuest for multiple years and graduating high school, he knew he needed to move closer to the water. He found himself attending the University of Miami where he studied environmental engineering but could also be close to the ocean. After completing his open water scuba instructor along with his CPR and first aid instructor, Tucker decided to return to ActionQuest as an instructor to further develop and spread his passion for the water.
Linda- dive instructor/mate
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Linda was drawn to the magic of the oceans at an early age. As a child she spent most of her summers on a sailing boat discovering the Baltic and the Mediterranean sea. At the age of fifteen she took her first scuba certification and soon thereafter decided that she would work with scuba and biology in the future. After attending high school in the U.S. she went back to Sweden to complete a bachelor degree in biology at the University of Uppsala. With a passion for new adventures and teaching she has worked as a dive instructor in Sweden, Spain and Greece. When she is not out on the water, odds are you will find her playing ice hockey or discovering the world. Linda’s professional credentials include PADI Open Water Diver Instructor, Emergency First Response Instructor and an Inshore Yacht master Diploma by the Swedish Council for the Education and Training of Yachtsmen.
