This morning we woke up bursting with energy from a night of uninterrupted sleep to steaming hot eggs excellently prepared by our chefs. Once everyone had their fill, we took a short scenic hike to visit a scrimshaw master. His work was extremely intricate and impressive and his hospitality and openness to invite a bunch of teenagers into his home shows the kindness of the people who live here. I think it’s safe to say everyone was ecstatic to meet him. By the time we walked down from his house on the hill it was time for lunch. We ate on shore and it was refreshing not to cook and clean for ourselves. Needless to say there is a bunch of learning curves when it comes to being in another country. One being the language especially when the locals like to play jokes and say that the words we have been using for the past day and a half were wrong and then taking off without correcting us- leaving us utterly confused. The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and doing as we pleased on shore. The girls stumbled upon some quaint shopping and bonded over purchasing comfortable matching pants that we wore the rest of the day. Laundry and showers on solid land were taken advantage of and by six this evening we were back on Argo. Praying for some shore time to grab some last minute supplies before tucking into our cozy bunks for tomorrows hike to the renowned crater!
