Don’t Try to Describe the Scenery If You’ve Never Seen It

Remember my friend that you just might end up being wrong. Such is the sentiment of any fellow AQ shipmate who has hiked to Mt. Sage, the highest point in the BVI, located in none other than the beautiful Cane Garden Bay. Not only had this particular harbour been immortalized by Jimmy Buffet in songs like “Manana” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise” but the hike to Mt. Sage, a nearly Olympian task, will forever be engraved in the memories of fellow AQ student and staff alike. As usual, the hike began with a steep climb up the circuitous road that leads to Mt. Sage. Along the way, one cannot help but stop and wonder at the lofty views of the Brewer’s Bay and other misty views of the islands. Once at Mt. Sage National Park, one would be remiss not to indulge in a famous banana smoothie, comprising simply of overripe banana, creme de coconut, ice and a dash of water. These revitalizing drinks provided the energy that it will take to begin the steep descent into Cane Garden Bay. Once in Cane Garden Bay, most began to devour assorted lunches purchased from locations like Rhymer’s, Elm’s, or my favorite, Myett’s. After regressing back to our Boss Lady, we set out for Sandy Cay to begin the sand castle competition where we successfully sculpted none other than Spongebob Squarepants with frightening accuracy. As usual, Sidney’s Peace and Love provided great food and entertainment and also as usual, it was the job of our boat, the Boss Lady, to bring everyone to the dance floor. When the rain began, we simply could not resist and soon found ourselves dancing in the refreshing Caribbean shower. Without a doubt, we will all be walking a little strange tomorrow.
