We started the day off with an early breakfast at 7am, so we could be at the Labour Department in Road Town right at opening. We spent the next three and a half hours waiting to process our work permit paperwork, having ID pictures taken, and exploring some of Road Town in the down time. After the paperwork was completed we headed back to West End in the big safari taxi, had lunch, and split into three groups. First the groups practiced their marlinspike skills with a review of useful knots, Turk’s Head, and Monkey’s Fist tying. Next they rotated through three practical medical stations- backboarding, oxygen setup, and a review of the basic first aid supplies carried on each boat. Once everyone was done it was time to head back out on the water. Travis, Jack, and Sam took groups out again to practice, so each skipper, dive instructor, and mate had a chance to dock, anchor, and pick up a mooring ball one more time. Meanwhile, the Lifeworks team and the Dolphin program instructors spent the day studying sea turtles with Conservation and Fisheries Department. We also welcomed Elliot E., our newest team member, from Florida! It’s been a long but fun day, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow holds!
