Today was a very action packed day. We started the day off with delicious pancakes which were fluffy and delicious. I dropped a plate into the water during clean-up and had to jump into retrieve it while the seagulls began approaching the boat for the leftover food. With the sun blazing we began our long and relaxing sail to the Chickuzen ship wreck. This was a Korean refrigerator ship that sank in the middle of the ocean in the BVI. It is very remote and a mere set of coordinates that are quite challenging to find. The Chickuzen wreck is one of the most anticipated dives during the whole session: it’s in the open water so possible sightings include sharks, rays, eels, and huge schools of fish. We saw an incredibly large ray, big snapper, and a school of fish cascading across the side of the sunken ship, starting at 30 feet and plummeting to 70 feet. Once of ActionQuest’s dive masters in training dove it with us too. Getting out of the water was a big challenge as the waves smashed, crashed, and hit us. Despite being tired, we were satisfied with the amazing dive. We then ate lunch (chicken salad), sailed to Muskmelon Bay, took our showers in the ocean so we could conserve water, and just finished eating our dinner of chili. Now everybody is cleaning up as the sun sets. We also got our laundry back today (yay! Warm clothes!) And we tried the BVI’s special XXX Calypso hot sauce. It was a fun day and I can’t wait for tomorrow! Also we found out that when we tickle Matt he laughs like the Pillsbury Dough Boy.
